The report provides a highly detailed description of the Waterloo campaign. In his report, circa October 1815, Friedrich von Kielmansegge recalled the situation with his brigade: ‘On the 15th June the various battalions were cantoned in the villages which lined the main road from Mons to Soignies in such a way that the brigade could be assembled in 4 hours. At 3 o’clock in the afternoon of the 15th June the order arrived for the division to assemble without delay in front of Soignies. Upon our arrival in front of this town outposts were immediately established in the direction of Mons and Charleroi, and the battalions were quartered in churches and large buildings. However, the late arrival of the troops meant that the distribution of provisions was impossible, and subsequently, almost all of the battalions spent the night without food.’ The entire contents of this file are also available in Hanoverian Correspondence #1.
