The lengthy report, which is dated the 6th December 1824, provides a highly detailed description of the role the 1st Hanoverian Foot Battery played in the Waterloo campaign, especially during the latter stages of the fighting on Sunday the 18th June 1815: 'Towards 6 o'clock in the evening the battery had been reduced to such an extent, due to the number of killed, wounded and those who had carried their wounded comrades to the rear &c., that only 3 cannon were manned and could be operated. However, this small group of brave men diminished every moment, so that towards 6.30 p.m. I had to ask some of the Scotsmen to help serve the cannon. At this time three cannon belonging to the enemy's horse artillery moved to N, which fired  at the battery with canister. But after a few shots from our Hanoverian battery one of the enemy cannon was destroyed and the other withdrew.' It should be noted that the contents of this file are within the new on-line archive.
