In his detailed letter of the 4th July 1815, Charles Radclyffe provided a description of the charge by the British Heavy cavalry during the early stages of the Battle of Waterloo, and the capture of the two French Eagles: 'The charge of heavy cavalry in line was a magnificent sight, and I have every reason to believe they did everything to justify the high expectations their appearance had excited. Nothing could exceed the enthusiasm of that part that fell under my notice. I commanded the left squadron of the Royals. They took an Eagle; the Geys, to maintain their motto, took another. Amongst other trophies,  three wagons loaded with French cuirasses picked up on the field were brought here; they are to be given to the Belgique Carabineers which the Prince found occassion to praise.' In addition to the letters the file contains  genealogical  information as well as details of Charles Radclyffe’s military service. It should  be noted that the contents  of this file are also available within the on-line archive.
